Calvin S, a first time homeowner in Point Breeze, had a mystery leak. which led to significant water damage in his living room ceiling.

This project was particularly time-sensitive, as the client had family visiting for the holidays and needed the work completed quickly without sacrificing quality.

To properly identify and fix the issue, two sections of the ceiling had to be cut open. Additionally, a portion of the wall on the other side of the upstairs bathroom had to be removed for inspection and repair.

Efficient & Clean Ceiling Repair Process

Understanding the urgency, we took extra care with site preparation before starting the repairs:

  • Masked off the entire living room and office floor with heavy-duty plastic to protect surfaces.

  • Set up dust walls in the living room to prevent debris from spreading throughout the home.

Once the areas were opened up and we tested to confirm the plumbing issue was fully resolved, we moved on to ceiling drywall patches:

  • Cut out all damaged sheetrock to ensure a solid, lasting repair.

  • Installed wood backing on all four sides of the patch areas to prevent future seam cracks or failures.

  • Used rapid-setting joint compound, allowing us to apply three coats in one day.

  • Finished with a lightweight all-purpose compound for a seamless blend with the existing ceiling.
